Portland, Maine.
Yes! Our schools are GREAT here!

Great schools are good for kids, good for families, good for businesses and good for Maine. The Portland Education Foundation (PEF) brings the Portland community together to celebrate and support our schools.
PEF funds investments that encourage classroom innovation, enrich educational offerings and engage our community in the important work taking place in our public schools.
Donations to the PEF are a direct investment in the special offerings that go beyond the traditional school budget. Your gift helps fund the activities that move schools from good to great and launch our students into the community as better citizens.

Please consider a 2016 year end gift today!

2016 PEF Teacher Grants Program

The PEF Teacher Grants Program supports a wide range of innovative school and classroom-based efforts to enhance learning experiences, and to recognize and reward the hard work of Portland’s talented and dedicated teachers, who work tirelessly to engage and inspire students. 2016 marks eight years of PEF investing directly at the point of teaching and learning. Funds disbursed in 2015 represent a 29% increase over the previous year. Grant applications were received from teachers in every school, representing all grade levels, K-12.  47 grant proposals were awarded totaling $33,000. Thank you to our many generous donors who make this program possible!

Family Engagement Tools

A summary of what children should know and be able to do and ways for families to increase learning at home.

L.L. Bean funded the publication of a series of Learning Guides for Families in nine different languages!

The guides help families better understand what children should know and be able to do at each grade level, and suggest ways for families to increase learning at home.

Portland Education Foundation and Portland Public Schools thank L. L. Bean for their generous support
